For The Grown & Sexy, Part II

In continuing with the theme of things, I felt like I had to put on blast my love for Minnie Riperton. If you haven't noticed, I have a thing for black female vocalists. Listening to Minnie Riperton is so necessary when understanding the definition of soul. Any mixtape out there that calls itself "baby making music" (I see you Dirty Harry and ?uestlove) and doesn't have some Minnie on it is committing musical sin. Her vocal ability was amazing and clearly noted in several songs, with her lyrics literally oozing that sexual prowess. Seriously, when anyone brings up sex music in conversation, there's always the definitive answers like Barry White, Marvin Gaye, Al Green, etc, with Minnie Riperton being one of them. For those of you with significant others in your lives, this is required.

Minnie Riperton - Loving You (Download Link)

This song is an all-time classic. If this is your first time hearing it, you should become a nun.

Minnie Riperton - Inside My Love (Download Link)

One of the realest love songs ever.

Minnie Riperton - Only When I'm Dreaming (Download Link)

This song is so incredibly beautiful. Real heads should have this on repeat.

Mawkus...man, you're deep!

Don't forget another winning Minnie tune, "Perfect Angel." Yum!

I remember her music played on black radio back in the day a lot, and "Loving You" crossing over mainstream and went big. A shame that she passed away far too young, but no doubt she's left us with wonderful romantic gifts.

I'm sure when a significant other comes into my life, Minnie won't be too far behind.
