Club 91 on KCPR - Drub 91 Invasion with Nikoo and Rootlee

It's the founding hosts of KCPR'S DrubFX back on and in full force; Nikoo and Rootlee are back to do damage, once again, making a return trip to Club 91. In this case, it's a full-on Drub 91 invasion filled with bass-heavy beats and lyrical waxings courtesy of the Roots man. Can you handle three hours of Drub 91?! Have a listen for yourself! Jah!

Check out the show's Facebook Page to view the rest of the photos from the mix session, too!

Club 91 on KCPR with a Quartet of DJ's!

We've really outdone ourselves. Not only was it the first time in the history of our mix show did we manage to get over two DJ's spinning in one week, but we have four DJ's! Yes, it was quite a bit to handle, but in the end things worked out great.

We have locals Fatty Knuckles, DJ Lytic and Groovemunk doing it, and at the end it was the return of original Club 91 host Loco, traveling back to his old stomping grounds from the Bay Area.

It was a great night and a lot of fun; hope you enjoy the show!

Club 91 on KCPR - Nikoo and Rootlee Strikes Again!

Recorded on Saturday December 4, 2010, Nikoo and Rootlee got the last-minute invite after a previously-scheduled DJ wasn't able to make it. Once again, all dubs on deck!

Club 91 on KCPR with Guest DJ Lytic

Last night's Club 91 got a little crazy with some bass-heavy action. Sure, we've had quite a bit of bass lately, but added to a reference monitor and the two overhead monitors at the station was a subwoofer. Put all that together, and you got yourself some booming action.

DJ Lytic steps into the KCPR for his debut set on Club 91. He hasn't been DJing for very long, but he's already cut his teeth in local places such as MoTav (aka Mother's Tavern) and Native Lounge downtown. He brings his more adventurous vibe into the fold for this week's show.

Get ready for the rumble! Enjoy the beats, and we'll be back atcha next week.

Club 91 on KCPR with Guest DJ Sean Crandal from People, Inc.

First of all, the October 30th set with guest DJ Athelias was lost due to some tech-related shenanigans with the recording server. He'll return to the show sometime in 2011.

Meanwhile, on this episode of Club 91 we have DJ Sean Crandal making his debut appearance to the KCPR studio. He's been at the local DJ game for awhile, whether it's participating as a DJ or organizing events through his event outlet, The People, Inc.

The show was started a little late, plus unfortunately a bit of the tail end of the show, about roughly 15 minutes, was lost. If anything had to be lost, it was about a couple of songs. But we also had a good bookend interview that was also lost, but you'll get to listen to a little bit of him speaking a few words at the start of the show.

Time to move on; enjoy the mix!

Things get heavy this week...dub heavy, that is, as Club 91 welcomes back Nikoo from KCPR's DrubFX dubstep show for another booming onslaught. This time, joined by compadre Rootley seizing the mike and making it his own. It's the DrubFX takeover, so fire up that sub and get out your headphones because sounds gonna get dirty! Enjoy the show, and be sure to subscribe to the podcast for Club 91 on KCPR through the iTunes Store. You can also right-click on the blog title to download the file directly.

DJ Nate So Whoa

As you can see, I think I've been sleeping on this up-and-coming Chicago native known DJ Nate. When I first heard that track "Free" on Paul Devro's WMIG mix, I wasn't sure what to call it other than some hybridized form of juke with a dubstep felt bassline because he still intricately keeps all the integral soulful elements together. This dude is definitely one to watch out for, on the reeeaaal.

Dubstep So Super Eye Are!

Yo yo yo panda people. So I cranked out this mix over the weekend with all that bass heavy dubstep shit. Listen to it when you're trapped in Giza on your couch or when you're kicking it with a ghetto goon chick that could be a member of Crime Mob and Xscape at the same time. Boom bitches, for reals.
