Unconventional Science new album + remix album w/ a Foniks joint

Holy Guacamole w/ cilantro perogi! My good homie Unconventional Science recently dropped his new album "Open W/ Emotion." As an added bonus, he's freshly released an entire album of remixes from fellow producers both stateside and abroad. There's also a joint on there w/ treatment from yours truly, Foniks. Support this fellow beatmaker in arms as he just got back from touring SE Asia and living in India. You can cop both albums on Bandcamp:

Good future news: We'll be hopping the pond in fall for a European tour and then on to Asia, that's the plan at least. Hustlin to raise those funds son. Oh, and I forgot to say Unconventional Science will also be hitting the road w/ K-the-i??? for a US/Can tour. Big tings in 2012.

Peep both the OG and the Remix affair!

Cosmic Intoxication

If you haven't heard of Tokimonsta aka Jennifer Lee then you probably haven't realigned your frequencies. She's one of those up-and-coming producers out of LA, affiliated with Brainfeeder, Dublab, etc and is true with her sound. I'm not gonna say much else because her music speaks for itself. Go and buy this record!

San Diego could definitely use more booty bass

This was taken at the Institubes show in LA. Clearly, the bunnies were running wildly as Para One amped the crowd with his mask. It was definitely an amazing show, especially with how much energy those French kids brought it. I particularly liked DJ Orgasmic's set the most, given how he just destroyed everything with his trigger pad. The highlight was when he just upped the bpm's midway through his set and dropped some serial ghettotech. He played one particular track that made me want to call up a friend by the name of Curtis Vodka.

Curtis Vodka - Back That Thang Up Hoe

I remember when I hung out with him this summer when he was on tour and we were talking about air travel and how he hated flying planes. I told him he should just listen to his iPod and he said, "it won't help my anxiety much when all I have to listen to is booty bass and ghettotech." Currrrrtisssss! If you're in Europe in October, go catch one of his shows while he's on tour with the dude that makes the illest mixtapes, DJ Benzi. Shout outs to Flufftronix for launching his Daft Crunk parties in Indy this weekend!

Anyway, I'll try to update more now since I'm settled down here in San Diego. Expect another glossy mix to get flossy to!

Who knew chocolate cookies could be so traumatic?

Yeah, so I ate this chocolate cookie about two weeks and it just messed me up. The aftermath involved making this mix in isolation from the world. It's got different stuff, like some club remixes, booty bass and classics of course. I've been meaning to record this other booty-from-the-back mix but I just haven't gotten around to it.

Lately, I've been immersed in finding housing in SD and efficiently ripping vinyl which are daunting tasks. It is really cool though going through my various stacks of wax, finding records I forgot I had. I was such a bad ass in high school for buying a bunch of DJ Funk remixes and these ill disco edits. Chances are I'll post up my faves in the weeks to come.

As for the weekend, if you're in LA, go check out the Institubes tour on Saturday! I've only heard amazing things from the other shows that have gone on elsewhere. Anyway, all y'all should download the mix. I have to head on to SD for a few days but I'm sure Loco will return by the weekend to run on update on how many beach beauties his eyes became numb to.

Shout outs to Velanche for dropping a "soulsonic" set last week at the Voodoo Lounge and big ups to Abstract Butta Fingas for staying on his grind, runnin' shit in LA.

Sorry, no tracklist for now but I'll one up if someone wants it.

Here's the Institubes flyer for the LA party, it's gonna be massive:
